UAB opens the exhibition "Visual Voices for University Health"
A collective look at students’ emotional well-being. It is part of the 5th Inclusive Arts Week and can be visited until 24 April 2026 in the Lobby of the UAB Theatre Hall.
An invitation to listen, share, and rethink the way the university experience is lived.
On Tuesday, 2 December at 9 a.m., the exhibition Visual Voices for University Mental Health will open. This participatory showcase gathers the experiences and reflections of students and university staff on emotional well-being in the academic environment.
The installation, which will remain open to visitors until April, is the result of workshops held at the Università degli Studi di Cagliari (Sardinia) within the framework of the European project HEARST, coordinated by the UAB.
The exhibition takes shape through the Photovoice method, a participatory approach that combines photography and personal narrative to give voice to people experiencing a particular reality. In this case, participants have expressed through images and collective texts the factors that affect their mental health within the university setting, as well as proposals to improve it.
Among the photographs on display are images such as “United Under the Storm” and “Up to the Very Top”, which symbolise the importance of accompaniment, mutual support, and the need to simplify processes to foster student well-being. The materials, printed on lightweight supports and adapted to the UAB exhibition space, maintain the community-driven and transformative essence of the original project.
In addition to the photographic collection, the exhibition includes informational materials about the participatory process and the European context of the HEARST project, with the aim of opening a space for dialogue and awareness.
