Inclusive art, as an expression of social responsibility, is a powerful tool with which to break barriers and create more humane, diverse and cohesive narratives.

The UAB Inclusive Art Week, which this year reaches its fifth edition, is part of the actions of the UAB's University Social Responsibility (RSU) programme. The activity is co-organised by Culture, and includes the collaboration of several entities and projects linked to the university community, such as CERSIN (Centre for Studies and Research for an Inclusive Society), the UAB CORE in Mental Health, the Official Master's Degree in Audiovisual Communication Contents and Advertising, the Faculty of Political Science and Sociology (HEARST project), and the Art and Well-being project of the Faculty of Education.

To attend any of the events, it is necessary to register in advance using the following form.

The programming for this edition will combine theatre, exhibitions, music and other artistic expressions with a strong social and reflective charge.

Suéltalo ya, ¡coño! will begin the week on Thursday 20 November at 12:30 p.m. with an original multidisciplinary show that fuses physical theatre, clowning, comedy and aerials. The work makes a feminist critique of aesthetic ideals and gender roles, denouncing the lack of space for diverse identities and the demand for perfection imposed by society.

On 27 November at 5:00 p.m. attendees will be able to enjoy Hermafrodites a cavall o la rebel·lió del desig, a documentary and performative theatre piece that captures the voices and experiences of intersex people. Through fiction, storytelling and humour, the work proposes to imagine a new social order far removed from rigid gender categories.

On Tuesday 2 December at 7:00 p.m., the inauguration of the Veus visuals per a la salut mental universitària exhibition will take place, a sample of the Universitat degli Studi di Cagliari that focuses on the mental health of students. The images on display, such as “United Under the Storm” or “Up to Here With It”, symbolise the importance of group support, guidance and the need to simplify processes in favour of more university well-being.

On that same day, at 9:30 a.m., the La Xixa Teatre company will offer a theatre-forum in which attendees will be encouraged to reflect collectively and debate on inclusion based on their participative experiences.

On Wednesday 3 December at 2:00 p.m., the Theatre Hall will host the performance of the UAB Community Choir, a new initiative aimed at lecturers, researchers and administrative and services staff (PDI and PTGAS). The project, launched by the UAB's Art and Well-being Programme, explores how community singing can improve emotional well-being and strengthen ties within the university community.

The week will end with an institutional event organised by the Equality and Diversity Unit, in which the UAB will pay tribute to people with disabilities and reaffirm its commitment with the values of inclusion, equality and diversity.
