UAB celebrates its Festa Major

On Thursday 8 November the university will once again celebrate the Festa Major of the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona from 1 pm to 11 pm. The UAB thus recovers its Festa Major, with more than 20 years of history, as an area of participation open to all members and co-organised with the students, making it a sustainable, healthy and safe celebration.

The FMUAB 2012 takes place in two main areas: the Plaça Cívica, where visitors can find proposals from cultural, associative and solidarity groups, and the other at the northern axis (Rambla Nord), with some 60 stands from students and university associations with food and drink, and two stages for musical performances which will last until 11 pm. The last FGC train to Barcelona leaves the university at 11:25 pm.

The inauguration of the FM2012 will take place at 1 pm at the Plaça Cívica, with performances by UAB's human towers group, the castellers Ganàpies. From 1 pm to 6 pm there will be a fair at the Plaça Cívica as well as several participative activities. The Cinema Hall will be showing the film Holy Motors (2012), by Léos Caraxna. The film won the awards for best fantastic feature film and best director, and the José Luís Guarner award in this year's Sitges Film Festival.

At the Rambla Nord, two stages will be set up to offer different musical performances by bands formed by UAB students. The Festa Major will end at 11 pm, and no more food or drink will be served. We remind students that the last train (Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat de Catalunya) leaving UAB for Barcelona is at 11:25 pm.

A co-organised and more sustainable, healthy and safe festival

The UAB has wanted to recover its Festa Major, with more than 20 years of history, as an area of participation open to all university members. The Festa Major has been co-organised by students, entities and associations to give everybody the chance to put forth proposals and communicate the vitality of UAB's associations to the community, as well as display the activities carried out that go beyond teaching, research and knowledge transfer. The novelty this year is the UAB T-shirt, which will be available at different points of the campus.

The UAB once again works towards the maximum of environmental sustainability and this is reflected also by the Festa Major. The traditional reusable cup can be bought with your first consumption and later returned for a refund.

Red Cross emergency services will be stationed at the Faculty of Education and the emergency phone line is 93 581 25 25.

By co-organising the Festa Major, the UAB aims to guarantee safety conditions, for both people and facilities, throughout the day by holding an environmentally sustainable event open to everyone.
