UAB awarded for employment integration tasks

22/11/2011
The Incorpora Award aims to give recognition to the best actions carried out under the programme of the same name in the field of contracting individuals in a situation or at risk of social exclusion: disabled workers, long-term unemployed, victims of domestic violence, etc. Over 18,000 entities participate in the programme.
The UAB received the Incorpora Award in the category of "large company", corresponding to entities with over 250 workers. The jury highlighted the fact that under the UAB project a grantholder can be later directly hired by the company through the Incorpora programme. The jury also assessed the methodology used in defining the workplace, the selection of candidates and mediation support in incidents.
Groups included are people with psychic and physical disabilities, mental illnesses, unemployed people over 40, and victims of domestic violence. Those working at UAB can be found mainly at the university libraries carrying out tasks in organisation, storing and classifying of documents. In the first edition of the programme, in 201/011, 33 people were hired. During this academic year, the programme continues to have 33 people (19 from last year and 14 new employees).
In the fourth edition of the Incorpora Awards, other organisations receiving the awards are Grupo Siro, Caser Residencial, Atlanta Asistencia Familiar and La Única (Asociación Madrileña de Empresarios de Alimentación y Distribución). These organisations work to facilitate finding work for people with difficulties in entering or reentering the labour market.
