Third edition of the informative conference series "Veus"

The UAB Theatre Hall will play host on 17 July at 5:00 p.m. to the informative conference series "Veus", a series aimed at sharing with the general public the tranformative and inspiring knowledge generated at the UAB.

Six researchers will participate in this third edition, who will talk about highly different topics:

Anselm Rodrigo, professor of Ecology at the UAB and researcher at CREAF, focuses his research on improving knowledge of the abundance and distribution of wild bee species in Catalonia. His talk will be “Moltes més abelles que una i totes en perill” [Many More Bees than One and All in Danger].

Esther Lázaro, PhD graduate in Spanish Philology at the UAB and Beatriz de Pinós postdoctoral researcher at the UAB. She directs the transdisciplinary research-creation project FEMMEM. Her conference is entitled “Quan la memòria té veu de dona” [When Memory Has the Voice of a Woman].

Nil Bosch, project manager at the Institute of Law and Technology (IDT) of the UAB, where he is in charge of the management of projects based on the use of Artificial Intelligence such as INDUX-R and OPTIMAI, will give the talk “Futur digital amb garanties” [Digital Future with Guarantees].

Alba Valenciano-Mañé, postdoctoral researcher in the Department of Social and Cultural Anthropology. She has studied the business practices of women in Equatorial Guinea and the links they establish with local political power and global capitalism. Her talk is entitled "Asamsé. Una mirada des de l'antropologia econòmica" [Asamsé. An Economic Anthropology Perspective].

Elena Olivera, chemical engineer specialised in waste management and PhD student in the GICOM Group of the Department of Chemical, Biological and Environmental Engineering of the UAB. She studies the valorisation of organic waste through the composting process and the addition of biochar. She participates with the conference “Els residus no existeixen” [Residues Do Not Exist].

The event will be closed by Josep Cervelló, director of the Institute of Ancient Near Eastern Studies (IEPOA) and associate professor of Egyptology of the Department of Ancient and Medieval History of the UAB, who will give a lecture on hieroglyphs in Ancient Egypt.
