The winners of this year’s edition of the Jocs Florals are announced

Today the winners of this year’s edition of the Jocs Florals (a writing contest)  are announced, in which 119 works have been presented. Therefore, the results of the competition that has been organized for three years and it is expected to be repeated next year are coming out.

Today, Thursday April 23, coinciding with this particular Saint George, the winners of the third edition of the Jocs Florals de la Plaça del Coneixement are announced. This year, up to 76 students from 12 different faculties have shown their talents, with a total of 119 works presented in three contest categories: fiction creation, poetry creation and translation. The announcement will be at 1 pm in live at the Instagram profile of the Students Council of the faculty of Translation and Interpreting, one of the organizers.

The poetry creation category has received the most deliveries, with a total of 59. But also the fiction creation category and the translation category have had a high participation, with 43 and 17 texts presented respectively to each of these disciplines. This year the level was very high and the jury wanted to recognize with a mention those texts which deserve it.

The winners, depending on each modality, are as follows:

•    Fiction creation in Catalan: Jordi Bernal Fabra, for "El crepuscle dels homes".
Mentions to David Garriga Vall and Anna Fusté Labaila
•    Fiction creation in Spanish: Juan Pablo Astudillo Mora, for "¿Dónde está el juguete?
Mentions to Carlos Vaio López, Gorka Merino Chaparro, Aida Sánchez Idalgo and Alejandro Martínez Sánchez.
•    Poetry creation in Catalan: Glòria Capdevila Estadella, for "Carn viva, carn morta"
Mentions to Apol•lònia Isabel Barceló Ballester, Susana Villa Calabria. 
•    Poetry creation in Spanish: Verónica Díaz Ledesma, for "El final de la función"
•     Poetry creation in Spanish for foreigners: Santo Astorino, for "El mundo enfermo"
•    Translation English - Catalan: Alba Carbonell Garsaball 
•    Translation English - Spanish: Alba Navajas García 
•    Translation German - Catalan: Marc Miranda Neiva
•    Translation French - Spanish: Catalina Fernández Utiel
•    Translation Chinese - Spanish: null, but mention to Siqian Huang
•    Translation Japanese - Spanish: Catalina Fernández Utiel

The jury has considered prize null the categories of fiction creation in Spanish for foreigners, poetry creation in English and translation in Chinese - Spanish. The fiction creation in English category has not received any work, so it is also declared prize null.


One more year, then, despite the current situation that we are living, the Jocs Florals has been a success, which is organized by the Student Council of the Faculty of Translation and Interpreting, along with the faculties of Education Studies, of Arts and Humanities, and the support of the Dinamització Comunitària unit of the UAB. This concludes the third edition of the contest that this time will award the prize to the winners when the current situation allows them.
