'El color del azafrán' will close the March programming of the UAB Theatre Hall

The UAB Theatre Hall will host during the month of March three plays ("La primera i les mestres de la República", "El Pa Nostre de Cada Dia" and "El color del azafrán") and an instrumental show by the flute quartet Neuma. All the shows have free admission limited to the capacity of the hall.

The programming of the UAB Theatre Hall begins on Tuesday 5 March at 1:00 p.m. with “La primera i les mestres de la República” [The First and the Teachers of the Republic], a play paying tribute to Catalonia's first femal mayor, Nativitat Yarza Planas, who was the mayor of Bellprat, and the teachers who broke the barriers and showed pupils how to think during the Second Spanish Republic. The performing actor is Joan Valentí “Nan” and the play is directed by David Pintó.

On the following day (Wednesday 6 March) at 10:00 a.m. and again at 4:00 p.m., an instrumental performance will be offered by the flute quartet Neuma, made up of Anna Pujol, Raquel Díaz, Alejandra Villalonos and Estela Córcole, and directed by Abel Coll. The performance with transverse flutes will represent the four elements: earth, fire, water, and air.

On Wednesday 13 March, at 1:30 p.m., the Theatre Hall will be presenting “El Pa Nostre de Cada Dia” [Our Daily Bread], based on one of Bertolt Brecht's play that tells the story of an economic crisis in any old neighbourhood and how a fight for food breaks out. The play shows the many sides of human corruption in all social classes and the values shared by the majority of a society in decadence. The play is directed by Pepa Calvo, adapted and translated by Eva Fructuoso and Pepa Calvo, and performed by the companyTeatre del Repartidor.

Finally, on Tuesday 19 March, at 3:30 p.m. the inclusive company “Dieguitos y Mafaldas”, formed by young scenic art students and members of the L’Estel de Terrassa Foundation, an association in support of people with risk of social exclusion and formed by people with mental discapacities, will offer a play entitled “El color del azafrán” [The Colour of Saffron]. This play changes between fiction and reality to shoe thw different stages in life: childhood, maturity and old age. It was created by Lucena Fernández, author of 48 of the stories, and by Guifré Baró, who dramatised the texts.
