The UAB ranks 5th worldwide in Veterinary Sciences in Shanghai ranking
According to the Global Ranking of Academic Subjects, the UAB is the 5th top university worldwide in the field of Veterinary Sciences, and ranks 34th in Geography.
The Global Ranking of Academic Subjects by the Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU), conducted by the Shanghai Jiao Tong University, places the UAB 5th on the list of top universities worldwide in the field of Veterinary Sciences, moving it up two positions from last year's ranking. Leading the ranking of top universities in Veterinary Sciences are Yangzhou University (China), University of Veterinary Medicine Hannover (Germany), Nanjing Agricultural University (China) and Ghent University (Belgium).
The UAB also occupies 34th position in Geography, and is the top universitiy in this field in Spain, as well as being one of the top 200 universities worldwide in a total of 25 subjects.
The UAB ranks in the 51 to 75 group of top universities worldwide in Agricultural Sciences. In the 76 to 100 group, it appears in the categories of Economics, Biotechnology, and Ecology. With regards to the 101 to 150 group, the UAB classifies in Mathematics, Physics, Oceanography, Atmospheric Science, Instruments Science & Technology, Materials Science & Engineering, Nanoscience & Nanotechnology. Subjects offered at the UAB and ranking in the 151 to 200 group are Chemistry, Energy Science & Engineering, Environmental Science & Engineering, Biology, Biomedicine, Nursing, Medical Technology, Pharmacology, Political Sciences, Sociology, Public Administration, and Hospitality & Tourism Management.
The Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU) was first published in 2003 and is one of the most prestigious rankings of higher education centres in the world. To conduct its ranking, it used data obtained by Clarivate Analytics' Web of Science and by official organisations.
