The Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona participated in the Association of International Educators Conference, NAFSA 2022. This is the first year the conference has been held with the physical presence of delegates since the pandemic began.

It took place in Denver, Colorado, and focused on the role of university institutions in assuring a more sustainable future. The UAB is fully committed to the conference theme and participated presenting different internationalisation programmes such as the UAB Barcelona Summer School, the International Tracks and different Study Abroad programmes organised by the UAB Foundation, as well as collaborations in research.

During the conference, UAB delegates had the opportunity to meet the representatives of more than 25 universities from around the world, some of with which it has stable international relationships. The delegates were also able to visit some of the universities  located on the East Coast, such as Brown, Columbia, and Barnard College. The first two are universities with which the UAB has worked through the CASA consortium, and it is now exploring other possibilities for collaboration.

The delegation of the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona was led by Màrius Martínez, Vice Rector for International Relations; Katja Schustakowitz, Director of the Area of International Relations; Montserrat Alegre, Specialist in International Relations; Richard Turner, Head of the Study Abroad programme; and Santi Alias, who works with the Communication and Promotion team of the UAB Foundation.
