Activities will begin on Tuesday 26 September at the Faculty of Psychology, with two suicide prevention workshops: one for students and the other for academic, research, and administration and services staff members.

From 26 September to 3 October, the UAB organises its Suicide Prevention and Mental Health Promotion Week, which includes activities programmed within the #Triolavida Days—a proposal open to all universities under the Mental Health and Addictions Plan of the Government of Catalonia—in addition to the activities open to members of the UAB community as part of the 2023/24 academic year, which will be dedicated to mental health. All activities are free and open to the general public, although some do require prior registration.

According to Idescat data, suicides have increased by 20% in Catalonia in the last decade. In 2022 a total of 607 people committed suicide, which means 50 persons each month. For this reason, the UAB has decided to dedicate an entire week, for the first time, to suicide prevention and the promotion of mental health.

The activities will begin on Tuesday 26 September at the Faculty of Psychology, with two educational workshops on suicide prevention, from 1 to 3 p.m.: one for students and the other for teaching and research staff and administrative and service staff.

On Wednesday 27 September, the documentary "Bailar la locura" (Dancing Madness) will be screened, followed by a discussion with the audience. It will take place at the UAB Cinema from 11.30am to 2pm. In the afternoon, from 4pm to 6pm, the Mental Health CORE is organising a Living Lab Mental Health on challenges in emotional wellbeing in the Journal Room of the Humanities Library.

The institutional inauguration of the conference will take place on Thursday 28 September at 11 a.m. in the Sala de Graus of the Faculty of Arts & Humanities.

Throughout Thursday morning, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., an interactive experience will take place in the Plaça Cívica, consisting of an installation of a cube with messages and telephones, with the presence of professionals from the Emergency Medical Service SEM 061.

At the same time, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on the same day, a fair has been organised with 30 organisations from the mental health area in the Journals Hall of the Humanities Library, which will help us to find out about the work they do and the resources they offer.

In the same space, from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. the CORE in Mental Health is organising the talk "Are you worried about mental health? Get informed, participate, collaborate in research", in which twelve UAB research groups will share the research they are carrying out on topics such as depression, suicide, the effects of physical activity, and the use of artificial intelligence as a detection tool, among others.

Also on Thursday, Joan Deus, professor of Psychology at the UAB, will give the inaugural lecture for the 2023-2024 academic year dedicated to mental health, entitled "Trencant barreres: la salut mental i el benestar en joc, una prioritat del nou mil·leni?" [Breaking Barriers: mental health and wellbeing at stake, a priority for the new millennium?]

On Friday 29 September, from 10 a.m. to 12 noon, a co-creation workshop for the awareness-raising campaign "Caring for mental health on the UAB campus", organised by the FAS, will be held in the Journals Hall of the Humanities Library.

Following that, from 12 noon to 1 p.m., the pilot project in creating a Mutual Help Group (Grup d’Ajuda Mútua, GAM) at the UAB under the organisation of the Activament group.

The following week, on Monday 2 October, from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., the programme "La Salut Mental està en joc: guanyem la partida" will be presented and the documentary "Sobre vivir" will be screened in the UAB Cinema Hall, followed by a colloquium with the presence of the director of the documentary and Psychology Professor Joaquim T. Limonero, expert on the subject. This activity is organised by the Office of Commitment and Community.

On Tuesday 3 October, the La Comunitària and the UAB fair of services working for emotional wellbeing on campus will take place from 12 noon to 4 p.m. In the afternoon, the “Creato” gymkhana will be held to give students the chance to discover the UAB’s services and solve challenges on campus, organised by the UAB Parc de Recerca.
