The UAB Dance Classroom ends the academic year with two artistic performances: "Anem" and "Ten to ten"
The students of the two UAB dance workshops will perform two showcases to conclude the 2024/25 academic year. On Monday 12 May at 1:30 p.m. at the UAB Theatre Hall, audiences will be able to see the performances that have been prepared over the past few months.

To begin, the students of Contemporary Dance Level 1, under the direction of Mario G. Sáez, will perform the piece they have been working on. Anem is a performance about moving forward despite difficulties, continuing in the face of challenges, and doing so through dance.
Anem seeks to move forward by “creating a new way to communicate” and allowing imagination to “capture” the audience’s gaze. The director himself describes it as follows:
“We keep moving forward despite the difficulties and grow by dancing with them. We continue creating a new way to communicate, and let our imagination capture your gaze. We keep going, shedding our fears, and we wander, inventing a new reality. Shall we go? Let’s go!”
Next, the students from the Contemporary Dance Level 2 workshop will present the collectively created piece Ten to Ten. Directed by Laia Santanach, this performance creates a space with ten personalities, ten perspectives, embarking on a journey that returns to the starting point from a different angle. Santanach explains:
“For many doctrines, ten is a sacred number, a symbol of the universe’s manifested perfection, and the culmination of a path. Ten carries several meanings, including perfection, goal achievement, transformation, the end of a cycle, and the beginning of a new one.”
