The UAB creates new study aids for the emergency situation caused by the conflict in Iran

This initiative, part of the UAB Finestreta programme, is intended to compensate for situations that hinder the academic progress of UAB students in their official university studies. It is aimed exclusively at students enrolled in UAB centres in the 2025/26 academic year and affected by the conflict in Iran. It is an extraordinary grant and non-renewable in nature, and does not imply in any case the allocation of grants for the 2026/27 academic year.

There will be different types of study aids. They may consist of tuition grants for credits enrolled during the 2025/26 academic year, grants for exemption from surcharges associated with late payment of tuition fees, or grants linked to an internship, in addition to other options considered by the committee responsible for deciding the applications on 30 June. And in no case are they compatible with aids granted by any other public or private body for the same purpose.

In a statement released on 3 March, the UAB categorically rejected "any form of violence as a means of resolving political or geopolitical conflicts" and called for "a peaceful solution to the conflict that allows Iran to advance towards a democratic transition, led by its own citizens and with the support, where appropriate, of the international community, with full respect for fundamental rights". In addition, the University made itself " available to all Iranian students studying at the UAB to aid them in anything within the University's power, and we express our solidarity and full support for the university community in both Iran and the wider Middle East".
