The best CFGS projects receive the Argó Awards

The awards ceremony for the 22nd Argó Awards was held on Thursday 10 July, in which the UAB gave awards to the best projects presented by students of Higher Vocational Training Courses (CFGS). A total of 115 students presented 43 projects, six of which received awards and four received a special mention.

The rector's commissioner for relations with secondary education and university access, Jordi Barbé, presided over the ceremony on Thursday 10 July, in which the awards were presented to the best research projects in the 22nd edition of the Argó Awards. Also present at the presidential table were Anna Ortiz, deputy director of the Institute of Education Studies of the UAB, the entity organising the awards; and Begonya Oliveras, coordinator of the Argó Programme and secretary of the Argó Award jury.

The conference hall of the Rectorat building was filled with the awardee students, their families and faculty members. In addition to collecting the award, the first-place winners took the stage and gave a brief explanation of their work.

In total, 46 works were presented by 115 students from 21 centres in 17 different towns, divided into two categories: 23 in the Graphic Arts, Trade and Marketing, Hospitality and Tourism, Image and Sound, Personal Image, Socio-cultural and Community Services and Textile, Clothing and Leather category; and 23 in the rest of the professional sectors. Six awards and four mentions were given in each of these two categories.

Student Nora Domens Mercader, from FEDAC Sant Narcís, Girona, won first prize in the Graphic Arts, Commerce and Marketing, Hospitality and Tourism, Image and Sound, Personal Image, Sociocultural and Community Services and Textile, Clothing and Leather category with her project "Parlar salva vides: donant veu al suïcidi juvenil" [Talking saves lives: giving a voice to youth suicide].

Students Oriol Costa Martí, Andrea Jiménez Azaustre, Raül Méndez Cortés, Keyla Jhasmin Orihuela Teran and Erika Sánchez Estepa won first prize with their project "La cicatriu del Garraf: l'abocador de la Vall d'en Joan", from the Institut Mercè Rodoreda in Barcelona.
