The UAB Language Service organised the 2nd Eloi Castello Literary Prize, aimed at students, teaching staff and administration and services staff, to promote the value of learning and knowledge of languages and cultures among the university community. In this second year of the competition members of the university community were asked to prepare a story explaining some personal or interesting experience related to languages: from an anecdote of a linguistic or intercultural misunderstanding to an explanation of the languages with which they have come into contact throughout their lives.

The work could be presented in written, audio or video format in any of the following languages: German, English, Aranese, Catalan, Spanish, Basque, French, Galician, Portuguese, Italian or Japanese.

The winner of the 2nd Eloi Castello Literary Prize is Paula Muntal, a first year student from the Faculty of Translation and Interpreting, with a work written in Spanish entitled Calurosa tarde de verano (A hot summer's afternoon) and entered under the nom de plume 'Seraphine'. The runner-up is Juan Espiau, third year Psychology student with an entry written in Spanish entitled Jota.
