Teresa Cabré to open the academic year at the Language Service

Teresa Cabré Castellví holds a PhD in Romance Philology from the University of Barcelona and is Professor of Catalan Philology at the Pompeu Fabra University, where she teaches Linguistics and Terminology in the Faculty of Translation and Interpreting. She founded the Catalan centre for terminology (TERMCAT) and directed it from its creation in 1985 to 1989. She also founded the University Institute of Applied Linguistics (IULA) at the Pompeu Fabra University, and directed it from 1994 to 2003. Within IULA she is the head researcher of the Lexis, Terminology and Specialised Discourse group (IULATERM). She is an elected member of the Philology Section of the Institute of Catalan Studies, secretary general of the Panlatin Terminology Network (REALITER) and president of the Spanish Terminology Association (AETER). She received the Wüster Award in 2007 for her contributions to the field of terminology in general and to research in this field in particular.
