Sustainable and Safe Mobility Week 2010 at UAB

Under the title of "Per un campus més sostenible. Hi sortirem guanyant!" UAB offers the following activities throughout the week:

UAB Transport Race
The transport race consists in comparing the different means of transport available when traveling to the Bellaterra campus with the aim of timing each and discovering which is quicker, most efficient and sustainable.
University members can help out with the race by giving information on how long they take to get to campus from home using different means of transport (car, car-pooling, motorcycle, train, bus, bicycle and walking). The race will take place on 3 November.
All those wishing to participate can send an e-mail to mobilitat@uab.cat indicating where they will begin their journey and which means they will be using.
Participants will enter to win a bicycle with an estimated value of 600 euros and on the day of the race the first 30 to arrive to campus will receive a free breakfast.

Sustainable Mobility photo competition
Open to the entire university community, participants can submit a total of three photos related to sustainable and safe mobility at UAB. All entries must be original, unedited works, in black and white or colour. The images must be presented in digital format and cannot exceed 4 MG.
Entries must be sent to mobilitat@uab.cat with the name and university group submitting the work. Deadline for entries is 5 November.
The winning photo will be published in the UAB mobility website and monthly magazine. The winning prize will be three months of free transport (T-Trimestre).

Bicycle Day
A new edition of Bicycle Day will be celebrated on 3 November.
Throughout the day there will be several activities and stands set up at Plaça Cívica:
IBici Exhibit by Fundació Terra: the aim of this interactive sample of bicycles is to complement theory with practice by allowing visitors to "touch, try out and become seduced by the various possibilities a bike has to offer" (Fundació Terra website).
Free bike inspections: bring your bicycle and have it inspected (diagnosis of problems, greasing, gear adjustments, etc.).
Bicycle Draw: at UAB's mobility stand visitors can enter to win by filling out a short questionnaire on the ways UAB's Mobility Plan expects to promote the use of bicycles. Those who answer correctly will enter to win a bicycle with an estimated value of 600 euros.

Presentation of PARKINETICS Living Lab of Electric Mobility at UAB Campus
ParKinetics is a new Living Lab for electric mobility and a demonstration area between Cerdanyola and Sant Cugat. On 3 November ParKinetics will be participating in the following activities on campus:
- Technical and informative sessions on the Parkinetics and Electric Mobility projects. UAB Cinema
- Exhibit on electric mobility: vehicles, users and suppliers. Plaça Cívica and Car Park of the Central Axis

Throughout the week information will be distributed on campus on the advantages of collective transport, bicycles and walking, and members will be able to try out the new "com arribo al campus" application on how to reach the campus offered by the new UAB mobility website.
