Students from the UAB master’s degree in Analysis and Management of the Artistic Heritage present the exhibition "Sergi Aguilar: Tool, Game, Journey"
The UAB Exhibition Hall hosts Eina, joc, viatge, an exhibition dedicated to the sculptor Sergi Aguilar, one of the most prominent figures in contemporary art in Spain. Curated by the students of the UAB Master's in Analysis and Management of the Artistic Heritage, the exhibition offers a journey through the artist's creative universe via works that explore the relationship between objects, space, movement and perception.
Students from the Master’s Degree in Analysis and Management of the Artistic Heritage at the UAB present Sergi Aguilar: Eina, joc, viatge (Sergi Aguilar: Tool, Game, Journey), an exhibition that invites visitors to delve into the work and thought of one of the most significant sculptors on the Spanish contemporary art scene.
The exhibition offers an approach to Sergi Aguilar's creative universe through a collection of works that combine minimalism, abstraction and a profound symbolic charge. Throughout the exhibition, the visitor discovers how the artist transforms everyday objects, routes and seemingly simple structures into tools for reflection on space, memory, time and the way we interpret reality.
The exhibition is organised into five thematic areas: Object, Play, Trajectory, Shadow and To G. Anselmo. Each of these spaces allows one to delve into different aspects of Aguilar's artistic trajectory and to understand the connections he establishes between material elements and the mental processes that generate meaning.
The exhibition begins with an immersive experience that introduces the public to what has been defined as the artist’s “mental workshop”—a conceptual space where his ideas, references, and lines of inquiry originate. From there, the show brings together key works such as Pacífic and Llums i Ombra, which exemplify his approach to sculpture as a tool for thought and for exploring the surrounding environment. The journey culminates with the piece To G. Anselmo, a work of great visual impact that encapsulates many of the themes running through his entire body of work.
Eina, joc, viatge can be visited at the UAB Exhibition Hall—located in Plaça Cívica, within the Communication Library and General Newspaper Archives building—until 2 October. The exhibition is open to the public from 2 September to 2 October, Mondays to Thursdays from 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., and Fridays from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
