Starting Grants awarded to two UAB-CEI researchers
Armando Emeterio del Río Hernández, Ramon y Cajal researcher at the UAB Centre for Biophysics Studies, and Adrian Bachtold, from the Catalan Institute of Nanotechnology, were two of the eight researchers in Catalonia to receive a 2011 European Research Council Starting Grant.

A total of 480 researchers in all Europe were awarded a grant in this fourth edition of the ERC Starting Grants. Twenty-five of these grants were awarded to research projects in Spain, eight in Catalonia.
Other researchers who were awarded a Starting Grant in Catalonia belong to the Catalan Institute of Chemical Research (3), the Institute of Photonic Sciences (2), the Catalan Institute of Nanotechnology – a UAB-participant centre (1), Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (1) and to the University of Girona (1).
