Social Sciences Library. 25 years (1988-2013)

15/11/2013
The Social Sciences Library celebrates its 25th anniversary this November. We have organised an on-site and virtual exhibition to commemorate the event, which will take place next Tuesday 19th November at 12.30 am in the entrance of the library by the floor 0.
The presentation of the event will be given by Judith Solé Resina, General Secretary of the UAB. Also will take part Joan Ramon Gómez Escofet, head of the Library Service, Salvador Cardús Ros as the first coordinator of the library, and Montserrat Catafal, current head of the Social Sciences Library.
The on-site exhibition, headed by Josep Vicens-i-Planagumà, reconstructs in an allegorical meaning the inflection point in which the library services are: among the library based on paper and the new digital library. Outside the library, a large format, digitalized painting shows two human figures that observe the past and a present looking ahead. Inside, there is the commemorative poster of the event that projects itself in a space full of references to the history of the library. In each side and in two columns there are the documents and bibliographic tools of a 16th century-old document and an electronic document with QR code access dated in 2013.
Through the virtual exhibition we will run over its history, from the origins to the present, from the paper collections to the digital collections, from the face-to-face consultation to the 2.0 library.
