Sign up and join a university volunteering programme
This new academic year experience the UAB in a different and more enriching manner. The Fundació Autònoma Solidària presents its volunteering programme for this year, which includes social, environmental, and health care programmes, with activities in prisons, hospitals, schools and on campus. All of these programmes work for peace, equality, sustainability and global justice. Volunteering is a unique opportunity to meet people, learn, contribute to social transformations, and validate credits.
The Fundació Autònoma Solidària (FAS), an association with over 25 years of experience in university social actions, presents it catalogue of volunteering proposals for this 2025/26 academic year.
All members of the community can take part in university volunteering. Last year, more than 400 people volunteered, a unique initiative at the university with an enormous social value in terms of proximity and a tool for real transformation.
There is currently a wide range of places available. Those who sign up can participate in activities in prisons, hospitals, schools and other education centres, and on campus itself. There are programmes for the environment and environmental justice, health promotion, equal opportunities, academic success, the rights of migrants, and support for young people seeking refuge. The programmes use mentoring, peer-to-peer, group and committee meetings, workshops, and participatory and awareness-raising activities.
Volunteering experiences
Karolayne, one of the volunteers, explains that “this interaction has enriched my understanding of and empathy towards other realities, it has expanded my horizons and given me a richer perspective”.
Marc says “I enjoyed the experience very much, I met new people and improved my social abilities, with activities that allowed me to get closer to subjects related to my degree and learn new things.”
Maria also spoke about how “the experience made me leave my comfort zone and allowed me to live up close different realities that are often made invisible”.
According to Alberto, “volunteering is a very important social task and creates a much more fraternal environment at university”.
Sign up today!
Everyone who can dedicate one morning or afternoon per week to volunteer can sign up to form part of this community.
Before beginning, volunteers will receive training and accompaniment (see video). Students will also be able to validate their volunteering activities for academic credits.
