In commemoration of the 50th anniversary of the execution of Catalan activist Salvador Puig Antich, the UAB has organised for 22 February the projection of the film Salvador (Manuel Huerga) and a posterior debate with the film crew and family members of the activist assassined by the Franco regime. The event will take place at 12 noon at the UAB Cinema Hall (Plaça Cívica).

The director of the film, the sisters of the executed militant, Carme and Imma Puig Antich, producer Jaume Roures and scriptwriter Lluís Arcarazo will take part in the debate. On behalf of the UAB, Rector Javier Lafuente and the dean of the Faculty of Communication Sciences, Enric Marín will also participate. This screening will open the cycle of activities "Puig Antich, 50 anys: El compromís vigent", which will also take place in other universities and in the La Model cultural centre, located in the former prison in Barcelona.

On 2 March 1974, militant of the Iberian Liberation Movement (MIL) Salvador Puig Antich was executed by the Franco regime in the La Model prison in Barcelona. His was, along with that of Heinz Chez, the last death sentence carried out during the dictatorship. The feature film, released in 2006, tells the story of the last months of the protagonist's life, from his involvement in the MIL and his arrest to his execution and the international protest movement that the events sparked.
