The goal is to implement sustainable mobility action plans in 30 European campuses.
The UAB, together with the universities of Rotterdam, Krakow and Bergamo, and the companies Novotec Consultores and Fundación Equipo Humano - participate in the European project U-MOB (from now until June 2021), which aims to reduce CO2 emissions on Europe's university campuses.

The main objective of the European Network for Sustainable Mobility at University U-MOB is to reduce levels of CO2 emissions in European university campuses. The project will begin on 1 July 2016 and finalise on 30 June 2021. The total budget for the project is 1,329,427 euros and it has received 60% of this budget is funding (797,656 euros).

Specifically, the project aims to:

- Create a European Network for Sustainable Mobility at University capable of interchanging, multiplying, replicating and transferring good practices in sustainable mobility to the campus even after the project is finalised.

Inform, communicate and raise awareness among the university community on the positive impact of reducing CO2 emissions by implementing sustainable management in mobility on university campuses.

- Develop and implement action plans for sustainable mobility in 30 European campuses.

- Develop and disseminate an online training session for the professionals in charge of the "Management of Sustainable Mobility" on campus.

- Normalise sustainable mobility policies among local public authorities

To achieve these objectives, three international conferences will be held in Barcelona (2017), Krakow (2019) and Bergamo (2021). The conferences will serve as a special event in which to debate and exchange experiences face-to-face, and strengthen ties between the network's member universities.

Moreover, they will represent a meeting place for universities and local and regional authorities working on mobility, as well as businesses and foundations from the sustainable mobility sector.

The action plans for sustainable mobility on campus require support from both the public administration and businesses capable of offering competitive solutions in mobility.

The project's first conference will be organised by the UAB and will take place at the Bellaterra campus in February 2017.

This European project is funded by the LIFE project, the support organism for the conservation of nature and climate and environmental action projects conducted throughout the European Union. Since 1992, LIFE has co-funded a total of 4,306 projects. For the 2014-2020 programme period, LIFE will contribute some €3,400,000,000 to environmental and climate protection projects.
