Professor Carles Górriz wins the 6th Teaching Excellence Award
Carles Górriz, lecturer in the Department of Private Law, is this year's winner of the UAB's 2024 Teaching Excellence Award. The award was conferred onto him in recognition of his innovative teaching methods that put students at the centre of the teaching-learning process. The awards ceremony will be held on 7 May.
This year marks the 6th edition of the Teaching Excellence Award, which is open to all UAB lecturers who have taught for more than 10 years. In this year's edition, the award goes to Carles Górriz, lecturer in the Department of Private Law of the Faculty of Law.
The award includes a cash prize of 5,000 euros, awarded in the span of two years, which will go towards improving lecturing conditions. The jury pointed out the innovative character of Górriz's teaching methods, in which he places students at the centre of the teaching-learning process and fosters critical and reflective thinking. The jury also highlighted the results of student satisfaction surveys and evaluations, as well as a high level of participation and high scores throughout his many years of teaching. The jury also found the results of his institutional involvement in the renovations of the Faculty of Law's teaching methods remarkable, which received recognition as good teaching practices and is reflected on the excellent evaluations received in the external degree accreditation process.
Carles Górriz will receive the award in a ceremony which will take place under the framework of the 6th Teaching Innovation Seminar, to be held on 7 May.
