During the 2022/23 academic year, the UAB's institutional campaign will be dedicated to the Catalan language. Under the slogan "No em toquis la llengua" [Don't mess with my language], the UAB will promote learning and using Catalan in all academic areas through messages posted on campus on canvases, banners and posters, participative activities and the launch of a new series of products available at the UAB store.

The campaign aims to clearly show the UAB's commitment with the use of Catalan in both academic and research spheres

“No em toquis la lengua” [Don’t mess with my language] is both an awareness-raising and inspirational campaign. Firstly, it aims to clearly state the University’s position in favour of the Catalan language. Secondly, it aims to inspire the community by demonstrating the richness of the language through a series of authentic and uniquely Catalan words which will be visible from the many canvases, posters and banners decorating the UAB campus.

The campaign will also include merchandising, which members will be able to find at the UAB store:  a cotton tote bag with “No em toquis la llengua” stamped on it, and many more fun products, such as T-shirts by Borinot and Torracollons and the Bandarra cup, and other more protest-driven products, such as the Dempeus cups, apart from other new products which will be launched throughout the year. At the InfoUAB in Plaça Cívica there are also badges, stickers and tattoos that the university community can take away for free.

With this campaign, the UAB aims to reaffirm its commitment with the use of Catalan in both academic and research spheres, one of the five points all public universities in Catalonia have included in their Commitment to overcome the education crisis, a document put forth by student associations and signed by the rectors of the Catalan Association of Public Universities (ACUP). In addition, the Government of Catalonia has implemented its Catalan Language Support Plan for the university and research systems in Catalonia, the first initiative of its kind in this area.

One of the first activities of this year will be the inauguration of the 2022/23 academic year, which will take place on Tuesday 27 September 2022 at 12:30 p.m. at the conference hall of the Rectorat building. The inaugural speech will be given by Màrius Serra and is entitled «Català, a l’atac en l’era del lingüicinisme» [Catalan, Under Attack in the Era of Linguicinism]

Each year, the University publicly announces its position on a current event through an awareness-raising campaign: "Climate Emergency: the UAB Acts!". "Let’s take care of each other at the UAB". "The UAB committed to health" are some of the latest campaigns launched by the UAB.
