New web on peacebuilding assessment

04/05/2010
The new web was created by UAB's School for a Culture of Peace in collaboration with the Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation (AECID). Based on previous assessments, the web displays how AECID and each region in Spain incorporate peacebuilding perspectives into their organisations and directive planning.
The website will be monitoring and analysing the degree of awareness and application of conflict sensitivity and peacebuilding in governmental development cooperation agencies. It also aims to point out the situation of Spanish development cooperation systems in terms of peacebuilding.
The report, entitled "Peacebuilding Diagnosis. Analysis of the Peacebuilding Perspective in Autonomous Communities' Development Cooperation", reveals that although 61.7% of the countries considered a priority by cooperation agencies and AECID are currently experiencing situations of political tension or armed conflict, Catalonia is the only region to have set aside a specific budget for peace.
The full report (in Spanish) can be consulted online at the School for a Culture of Peace website.
