The Language Service offers a support programme for lecturers giving classes in English. The programme consists of four different steps and is structured to help lecturers advance from a lower to a higher level, although they can also sign up for only one of the parts depending on their level.

The two first steps consist of the courses Intensive English for Academic Staff and English as a Medium of Instruction (EMI) Intensive Training. Participants will have access to videos and other resources uploaded to the Coursera platform, included in the MOOC English for Teaching Purposes created by the Language Service.

The third step is a practical teaching session in which an English instructor from the Language Service acts as an observer and attends a class given by the lecturer in English. Following the class, instructor and lecturer meet to go over the session and discuss aspects to be improved.

The fourth and last step is a certificate confirming the ability to teach in English after passing an interuniversity exam (UAB, UPF, UdG and UIC) demonstrating the skills needed to express oneself orally and in writing within an academic context.
