New programmes at the UAB for the 2026/27 academic year
In 2026/27 the UAB will be offering a new double degree in Psychology and Criminology, and the bachelor's degree in East Asian Studies will offer a new specialisation in Korean. Two of the degrees in the humanities area have also undergone a profound renewal in contents: the bachelor's degree in Humanities and Cultural Management, and the bachelor's degree in History. Two degrees from the School of Engineering will also be offering a joint bachelor's and master's degree programme.
Starting in the next academic year, the UAB will for the first time be offering the bachelor's degree in Psychology + Criminology, a pioneering double degree aimed at training professionals specialised in intervening in cases of violence and risk, particularly in the areas of violence against children, sexual violence, families in situations of risk, gender violence and harassment, etc. Students will be trained in a comprehensive vision of the criminological field and in the understanding of human behaviour to understand the phenomena of violent behavior and intervention with offenders and victims. It will be a double degree of 360 ECTS credits (six academic years), twenty admission places and part of the teaching will be taught in English. It is an eminently interdisciplinary training that will be taught in the Faculty of Psychology and Speech Therapy and the Faculty of Law.
The bachelor's degree in East Asian Studies, which has been offered at the UAB for many years now, with specialisations in the Chinese and Japanese languages and cultures, will now offer more admission places and a specialisation in Korean in views of the growing importance of relations with South Korea. Ninety admission places will be offered, thirty for each of the specialisations (Japanese, Chinese and Korean). Therefore, starting in the 2026/27 academic year, the UAB will train the first class of thirty specialists in intermediation in commercial, political, cultural and linguistic relations with Korea, who will find professional opportunities in consulting and analysis for transnational corporations, the tourism sector, diplomatic world, etc. The degree offers student mobility possibilities and benefits from the collaboration that the Faculty of Translation and Interpreting of the UAB has maintained for years with official institutions in China (Confucius Institute of Barcelona), Japan (Fundación Japón) and South Korea (Sejong Institute of Barcelona).
Two programmes from the area of humanities have also been completely updated. The bachelor's degree in Humanities and Cultural Management will prepare students to manage sustainable and inclusive cultural projects and events and to promote the democratisation of culture. It is focused on the professional sectors of the management of public and private cultural entities, cultural services, the creation of virtual spaces or tourism, etc. And the bachelor's degree in History, at a moment in which more than ever there is a need for professionals capable of critical thinking and with a profound knowledge of historical processes, will expand its range of optional subjects and possible specialisations to strengthen professional opportunities in areas such as the design of social responsibility policies, the management and conservation of heritage, archival science and documentation, and the world of education. Both degrees will be taught in the Faculty of Arts & Humanities.
The School of Engineering will debut a new type of study at the UAB: two degrees will inaugurate the Academic Program with Successive Path (PARS) next year, which will allow students to begin their master's studies before completing their bachelor's degree; specifically, when students need a maximum of 30 ECTS credits to complete their bachelor's degree. The programmes are the bachelor's degree in Telecommunication Systems Engineering + master's degree in Telecommunications Engineering (PARS) and the bachelor's degree in Electronic Telecommunications Engineering + master's degree in Telecommunications Engineering.
