With this initiative, the Social Sciences Library aims to bring the contents and process of creating a book closer to the university community.  In addition to the exhibit, a website on the book is available, where not only information on the book can be found, but also on its authors, stories about the creative process and the bibliography of the books exhibited.

The First Book on Exhibit

Productivity Accounting: The Economics of Business Performance, by authors Emili Grifell-Tatjé, professor of the UAB Department of Business, and Knox Lovell, professor of the School of Economics of the University of Queensland, Australia, was recently published by Cambridge University Press.

The book is an in-depth study of business productivity. It provides readers with an adequate analytical framework, tools to study the causes of variation and assessment of its consequences. It focuses on analysing businesses and considers that the main consequence of higher performance is basically a greater financial result. The book also considers alternative measures, including benefits, profitability understood as income/outcome, spending, unitary cost and profitability of assets.

By combining a rigorous analysis and empirical illustrations, the book examines a large volume of literature, both historical and present, related to the business and economic sector and explains how businesses create value and distribute it.
