This year the UAB celebrates a new edition of the UAB's Campus Ítaca, its 28th edition, organised by the Fundació Autònoma Solidària (FAS) in collaboration with the Faculty of Education and with the support of Banco Santander.

The socio-educational programme Campus Ítaca aims to motivate students who will soon graduate from secondary school and encourage them to continue studying past the obligatory period. This year, the UAB will hold two different sessions.

The first session will include 136 students who will take part in the Campus Ítaca from 28 June to 6 July, while the second session is made up of 149 students who will be visiting the UAB from 8 to 16 July. Thus, this year students will spend a total of 7 days at the UAB.

Campus Ítaca will welcome students from 60 secondary school centres located in the vicinity of the UAB. Aged 15 and 16, students participating in this activity have an interest in continuing their studies, but the economic situation of their families makes it difficult to do so, and often earning money is prioritised over continuing to study.

During their stay on campus, these students will take part in both leisure and learning activities, and they will have the aid of UAB lecturers instructors. Some of the activities include workshops, real-life problems and how to solve them, and research projects.

This year will include a new project entitled “Delve Into an Invisible World”. This proposal by the Department of Genetics and Microbiology will allow students to study the world of microbes. The leisure and sports activities offered in the Campus Ítaca will help students to develop their physical and creative sides in an educational and entertaining manner, helping them to socialise with other participants. All of the activities offered aim to promote a positive outlook on studying, fostering their curiosity to continue learning and helping them discover all the things a university campus has to offer

The 25 Campus Ítaca instructors will be participating in a training session on 22 and 23 June to prepare for the activities and receive all logistical and organisational information. This year they will also receive communicational tools to help them during the campus.

Due to the health restrictions, the inauguration and closing events cannot be held, but the FAS will upload all projects done by students during their stay on the following website.
