The UAB launches the Smart Campus Challenge programme is an initiative open to all members of the community to propose projects which can work on solutions to different challenges identified on campus, implement these solutions and make them extensive to the rest of the region. Registration now open to those interested in participating.

Smart Campus Challenge

The UAB campus is the ideal place to develop and put into practice with new solutions, products or services in collabroation with other users and relevant stakeholders. It is a true living lab allowing different members to participate actively and contribute with their knowledge, experience and viewpoint in developing solutions adapted to their specific needs and contexts.

With the aim of strengthening these capacities and activating the use of the campus as an environment in which to co-create solutions for local challenges (as well as those on campus), the UAB, with the support of its Social Council, has decided to launch the Smart Campus Challenge programme.

The programme is addressed to all members of the university community and is in search of five people interested in working with co-creation and open innovation methodologies with the aim of developing projects that can improve the campus. The projects will focus on these current challenges:

  • Repensem com mengem a la UAB
How can we change the meals model on campus to be able to offer a service that is of quality, fair, sustainable and accessible?
  • Fer comunitat és salut
How can we improve indoor and outdoor spaces to foster more personal and social relations among members of the UAB community by making these spaces pro-actives, open and welcoming?
  • Posicionem la UAB en el territori com a referent innovador internacional
What initiatives should be launched to make the UAB a leading campus both locally and internationally?
  • Pensem en verd
How can we reduce the current environmental impact of the UAB campus?
  • Coneguem a fons el campus
How can we improve the welcoming activities at the UAB so that students can discover all there is to know about the UAB?

All those interested in participating can sign up here. During the months of October, November and December, participants will work on solving these challenges while acquiring entrepreneurial skills and using innovation methodologies. Each team will have an assigned teamcher who will be there to help throughout the process. The co-created solutions will then be transformed into prototypes through the UAB OpenLabs network and assessed at the UAB campus, thus making the UAB an even more authentic living lab. The best solution will receive a 5,000 euros cash prize.
