Minkang Zhou voted among the most influential Chinese directors in Spain

Minkang Zhou, lecturer at the Department of Translation and Interpreting at UAB, was voted one of the ten most influential directors from China in Spain according to the economics journal Expansión.

Expansión highlights the "considerable weight" Minkang has within the Chinese community in Catalonia and his role as the director of the master's degree in European Union-China: Culture and Economy, an official UAB master's degree and the first programme focused on cultural business relations between the European Union and China.

Minkang gives Chinese language classes as part of the UAB undergraduate degree in East Asian Studies. He is also lecturer of the official master's degree in Translation, Interpreting and Intercultural Studies and teaches business negotiation strategies in the EU-China master's degree.

His research lines focus on translation and interpreting and on the culture and thought of East Asia. He is member of the Research Group in Translation from Chinese to Catalan/Spanish (TXICC). He has translated and published several works, including Traducción professional del español al xinès (2011), Xina, una potència mundial dins l'era moderna (2010) and El mercado chino (2008).

Minkang is also former director of the Foundation Confucius Institute of Barcelona, founded by the UAB, UB, Casa Àsia and the Beijing Foreign Studies University.
