Juan Jesús Donaire re-elected dean of the Faculty of Science

Juan Jesús Donaire, lecturer of the UAB Department of Mathematics, was recently re-elected dean of the Faculty of Science, a position he holds since 2022.

The dean's team will now include Montserrat López, academic secretary and vice dean for Equality and Diversity; Judit Chamorro, vice dean for Academic Affairs; Lluís Font, vice dean for Economics, Infrastructure and Institutional Relations; and Isaac Corral, vice dean for Alumni, Promotion and Communication.

Donaire is lecturer in the Area of Mathematical Analysis. He has lectured in the bachelor's degrees of Mathematics, Applied Statistics, Physics, Environmental Sciences, Chemistry, and Computational Mathematics and Data Analytics. His field of research is the theory of complex variable functions and their interconnection with stochastic processes in the plane and in higher dimensional spaces. He has done research stays at the Technische Universität Berlin, at the California Institute of Technology, at the Université de Montréal, and at the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid. He is currently member of the research group “Real and Complex Analysis and Partial Differential Equations”.

In addition to being dean of the Faculty, he was the coordinator of the bachelor's degree in Mathematics, coordinator of the graduate courses of the Department of Mathematics, assistant to the vice-rectors of the academic area, president of the accreditation committee of assistant lecturers, AQU collaborator in the field of sciences, vice-rector of Academic Policy, and vice-rector of Faculty and Academic Programming.

Donaire was the first dean of the Faculty chosen according to the Organic Law of the University System (LOSU), with a system of election by universal suffrage and weighted voting. The election was conducted by electronic voting. The LOSU establishes that the term of office of holders of elected unipersonal bodies is, in all cases, six years, non-renewable and non-extendable.
