The UAB has organised a week-long activity which began on 24 April for European students and lecturers from nursing schools belonging to the ENNE Network (European Network of Nursing in Higher Education). Maria Dolors Bernabeu, Director of the Department of Nursing at the UAB currently is the network's vice president.

This year's programme is called "Intercultural Competences in Nursing" and lasts a week, consisting in tutorial sessions, visits to different health units and cultural programmes. The event - called Intensive Programme (IP) - each year is organised by one of the member countries.

Participants will be working all week with student-centred education methods, known as "Problem-Based Learning" (PBL) - and with interdisciplinary and multicultural approaches in nursing. Thus, all activities are related with the role of nurses in Europe, the bachelor's degree in Nursing and with social and cultural activities.

A total of 82 students and 20 lecturers participate in the programme. This year participants come from European nursing schools in 13 different countries: Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Sweden, Czech Republic, England, Belgium, Scotland, Finland, Estonia, Croatia and Hungary.
