INS Can Roca reached University Debate League’s semifinal phase

The INS Can Roca team, which represented UAB in the final round of the High School Debate League (SiB) for the second year in a row, reached the semifinal phase on 5 April.

The High School Debate League’s final round started on 3 April and ended on 5 April in Universitat Abat Oliba CEU. The INS Can Roca team, representing UAB, reached the semi-final phase of the competition. This year’s topic for debate was: “Are borders between countries necessary?”

During the knockout phase, UAB’s team won the four debates they had, which allowed them to pass to the next phase. They debated against Institut de Tecnificació, which represented Universitat Rovira I Virgili (URV), but they lost. AULA Escola Europea, representing Universitat Pompeu Fabra (UPF) won this year’s edition.

High School Debate League

The High School Debate League, organized by Xarxa Vives d'Universitats, encourages the use of words in students through dialectical confrontation about a hot topic and also offers students a first touch contact with university. The local round in UAB took place from 25 to 28 February in Sala de Teatre with twenty-three centers taking part.
