On 11 March, the UAB will offer an information session on Fulbright grants addressed to graduates interested in enrolling in master's degrees, PhD programmes or predoctoral research projects in American universities in the 2021/22 academic year. The meeting will take place at 11 a.m. at the auditorium (Sala d'actes) of the Faculty of Political Science and Sociology and the Faculty of Economics and Business Studies. Executive Director Alberto López and Academic Consultant Nanor Demirjian of the Fulbright-Spain Committee will be speaking at the meeting, as will Maite Paramio, Assistant Vice Rector for International Relations at the UAB.

Study grants are awarded to graduates and include a monthly stipend, tuition fee waiver and travel expenses, as well as a medical and accidents insurance. Throughout the years, a total of 235 UAB students have been awarded a Fulbright grant and there are currently five people participating in the programme in Boston University, Louisiana State University, Baton Rouge, University of Wisconsin, New York University and Susquehanna University. In addition, 105 former Fulbright grantholders have become UAB lecturers. With regard to the current call for applications, all those interested in participating in the 2021/22 academic year must submit their applications before 14 April.

The Fulbright programme was created in 1946 by Senator James William Fulbright and since then has helped a total of 300,000 people. It receives funding chiefly from the US Congress, although it also counts on the economic support of other public and private entities, as well as funding from the countries participating in the programme. In 2014, the programme received the Prince of Asturias Award in the International Cooperation category.
