The proposal is open to all members of the university community as well as their family members and friends, and anyone in general interested in discovering ancient Egypt with the help of specialists. All those interested can sign up by 30 June.
Miquel Carceller, lecturer in History of Art at UAB, will conduct the expedition which will follow a "chronologically" designed programme in which the first part will focus on the origins of the Ancient Kingdom of Egypt and the second on the New Kingdom and Ptolemaic Egypt.
Therefore, the trip first will visit the Egyptian Museum of Cairo and then continue on to ancient Memphis, the capital of the ancient kingdom; to Luxor, to visit the remains of Thebes, capital of the new kingdom; the Ptolemaic temples and finally the temples built by Ramses II at Abu Simbel.
A maximum of 35 places are available. Price per person is 1,860 Euros for a double room. The price covers travel fees, accomodation, guides, a travel dossier, basic insurance costs, etc.
