Homage to John Girbau Bado (welcome as Professor Emeritus)

Joan Girbau Bado was born in Barcelona in 1942. He studied at the University of Barcelona, where he earned a doctorate degree in 1971. Between 1970 and 1972 he held a scholarship at the Collège de France where he worked with André Lichnerowicz. In 1974 he became Professor at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona and professor at the same university in 1976.
He is the creator of the research group in differential geometry at UAB. He has published extensively in this area of research. It has also been interested in the theory of relativity, a field in which you obtained different results.
It is worth mentioning his works in gnomotics, such as his precision sun clock on the façade of the our Facultat de Ciències UAB. He is also the creator of the Solar "Zenitógraf" ( you can see it here ), a device similar to a solar clock but that indicates the point of the plannet where the sun reaches the zenith at the time the observation is made.
