The multinational company Henkel announced its plan to invest seven million Euros to create three new research and development laboratories in Catalonia, which in its first phase will generate 55 new highly qualified workplaces.

One of the laboratories will be located at the Eureka building of the Research Park of Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB), where a Henkel laboratory already exists and where 35 new researchers will be incorporated; another laboratory will create ten new workplaces and will be located at the Leitat technology centre in Terrassa, and the third will include ten more researchers although its location has not yet been decided.

The new laboratories will begin to function in 2013 and will focus their research on the subjects of adhesives and high-performance sealants which are used mainly in the automobile, electronics and aviation industries. The company also plans to create new workplaces and reach 100 new researchers by its second phase, which has not yet been defined.
