Helmut Haberl, Director of the Institute of Social Ecology in Vienna, to visit UAB

Professor of the University of Vienna, Helmut Haberl, specialist in the relation between nature and society, will be visiting the UAB tomorrow 31 October to speak on the pressure suffered by ecosystems.

Helmut Haberl, Director of the Institute of Social Ecology in Vienna (Universitat Alpen-Adria), will offer a conference entitled “HANPP and Embodied HANPP: a consistent accounting system to trace internal and trade-related pressures on ecosystems” on Wednesday 31 October at 1 pm at the conference hall of Building C (Faculty of Sciences and Biosciences). Haberl was invited to give a conference by the Institute of Environmental Science and Technology (ICTA) of the UAB.
 
Dr Haberl's main areas of research are the socio-ecological metabolism, long-term socio-ecological research and sustainability indexes. He is member of the science committee of the Global Land Project and the European Environment Agency; and has participated in elaborating the report for the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC).
