Administrative capital of Lebanon, Beirut is also one of the main cultural capitals of the Arab world and a symbol of resilience, modernity and freedom of expression

Lebanon is currently experiencing an unprecedented political, economic and migratory crisis, which worsened last summer by a series of large-scale explosions at the commercial port of Beirut that left 207 people dead and more than 6500 injured.

Students of Arabic language and translation subjects, which are taught in the fourth year of the Bachelor's Degree in Translation and Interpreting, have created an exhibition about this city with various translations that they have done in class with Professor Anna Gil Bardají. This exhibition is a humble tribute, from the other side of the Mediterranean, to this city with which the FTI has had a special bond for over 15 years.

The first part of the exhibition brings together translations of various news items from the Arab press about the explosions in the port of Beirut. The second, translations of a portion of Arab literary texts that reflect, directly or indirectly, some of the defining features of the city of Beirut. You will find the exhibition right at the entrance of the Faculty: take a look at it!
