Five UAB researchers among the most cited worldwide

Esteve Corbera, Margarita Triguero Mas, Jordi Martínez Vilalta, Xavier Montalbán and María Asunción Buti feature among the researchers with the world’s most highly cited papers, according to Clarivate Analytics.

This year’s classification of “Highly Cited Researchers”, conducted by Clarivate Analytics, lists Esteve Corbera and Margarita Triguero Mas, from the ICTA-UAB; Jordi Martínez Vilalta, from the Department of Animal Biology, Plant Biology and Ecology; and Xavier Montalbán and María Asunción Buti, from the Department of Medicine, among the most cited researchers worldwide.

The 2021 Highly Cited Researchers list, released 16 November by the Web of Science Group, identifies social scientists who have demonstrated significant influence in their chosen field or fields through the publication of multiple highly cited papers during the last decade. Their names are drawn from the publications that rank in the top 1% by citations for field and publication year. The 2021 list includes 6,602 highly cited researchers in various fields from more than 70 nations. The methodology behind the list draws on the data and analysis performed by bibliometric experts from the Institute for Scientific Information at the Web of Science Group.

A total of 3,774 researchers are recognised for their performance in the 21 ESI fields, and 2,828 for cross-field performance.
