The Far West will come alive at the UAB Cinema Hall during the months of March, April and May thanks to the most iconic film director of Westerns, John Ford.

Western

The film cycle “My Name is Ford and I Make Westerns” will be offered at the UAB with the projection of 7 films at the UAB Cinema Hall. The cycle is organised by the Department of Audiovisual Communication and Advertising (Faculty of Communications Studies), in which the award-winning director and producer John Ford will star as the main figure in this film cycle.

John Ford was one of the most influential creators in the history of cinema and someone who truly renovated the language of films. His contributions were fundamental in setting down the bases for classic Westerns, with masterpieces such as Stagecoach (1939) and The Searchers (1956). Films that will be projected in this cycle.

Ludovico Longhi, lecturer of the Department of Audiovisual Communication and Advertising, is the person who has organised this cycle and has this to say about the famous film director.

"John Ford was considered to be a simple narrator of the sacrality of epic poems. His transcription of the North American epic hides no misery or conflicts: it reminds us of and condemns the violence perpetrated on other communities which were erroneously seen as savages."

This cycle aims to recover the feeling of profound admiration for the uncontaminated nature and the different ethnic groups which have tried to live in harmony with this nature. To learn more about the other film projections please visit our website.

Entrance is free, but seating is limited.
