Experts Debate the Latest Advances in Rare Anaemia

On 6 October the Institute of Health Studies in Barcelona (Carrer Roc Boronat 81-95) will host the first Conference Series on Rare Anaemia in Catalonia, to discuss the latest scientific advances made in this field.

The event is addressed to doctors and healthcare professionals who work diagnosing and monitoring minority anaemia. Conferences will focus on aspects related to the diagnosis, clinical attention, prevention and treatment of diseases such as thalassaemia or sickle-cell anaemia.

The series will include the participation of renowned medical laboratory scientists and representatives of newborn screening programmes. The event will end with an interactive sessions on practical aspects which can be applied specifically to the diagnosis and clinical handling of these pathologies.

The conference series will begin with an introductory session on minority anaemias in Catalonia at 9:30 am, given by Joan Lluís Vives-Corrons, Head of the Erythropathology Unit at Barcelona's Hospital Clínic.

This initiative has been organised jointly by UAB's Doctor Robert Foundation and the Institute of Health Studies of the Government of Catalonia. The series will continue with three more sessions on 4 November, 1 December and 12 January 2012. Deadline for Pre-registrations is 29 September.
