Exhibit on mass graves at UAB

02/03/2011
From civilians who became victims of the civil war to soldiers who died at the frontline or in military hospitals, there are several mass graves in Catalonia. Men and women who have not yet found a final resting place and families who are still looking for their loved ones.
The exhibit "Fosses comunes: un passat no oblidat" (Mass Graves: an unforgotten past) wishes to illustrate when and where mass graves appeared in Catalonia through photos, personal objects, original documents and interviews. It also aims to answer the question why mass graves continue to exist and to explain the different options to solve this problem: from the dignification of victims to exhumations and lab analyses of the skeletons.
The exhibit was prepared by historian Queralt Solé and anthropologist Assumpsió Malgosa. The homage to those who died and their families can be visited from 3 March to 1 April at the exhibition hall of the Communication Library and General Newspaper Archives.
The exhibit will be presented officially on Wednesday 9 March at 1:30 pm by Bonaventura Bassegoda, Vice Rector for Social and Cultural Transfer.
