Equity and Academic Excellence grants

21/11/2011
Applications submitted will be processed online through the Virtual Citizen Care Office of the Generalitat (http://www.gencat.cat/ovt) until 31 March 2012 (for Equity grants), and until 29 February (for Academic Excellence grants).
The total sum of Equity grants is of 1,100,000 Euros and will be allocated mainly according to income levels. The grants aim to cover a substantial part of university students who for economic reasons cannot apply for grants offered by the Ministry for Education and advance towards a more egalitarian university system in which subsidised prices are compatible with grant policies. It is calculated that over 1,500 students will benefit from grants in the 2011/12 academic year and cover up to 50% of enrolment fees.
Grants will be available to students enrolled in undergraduate courses which are not adapted to the European Higher Education Area. Students will also be able to choose from different enrolment options: full course, semester enrolment or partial enrolments.
Mobility Aids
The Academic Excellence Grants include 300,000 Euros and aims to benefit those with excellent academic performance. Approximately 24 students will receive up to 2,000 Euros per month for mobility and internationalisation programmes.
Each grant includes travel expenses and a monthly allowance for programmes up to six months. At the end of the 2011/12 academic year, universities will evaluate applications according to academic performance: students must have completed a minimum of 160 credits and the average marks of student records will be taken into account.
