ECIU University now also includes extended reality

The ECIU University will present the ECIU XR Campus, a new extended reality initiative that wants to become a digital environment of true interaction, creativity and sense of community.

Màrius Martínez, Vice Rector for International Relations at the UAB and President of the ECIU, will be in charge of welcoming attendants to the session and presenting the EU Commissioner for Innovation, Research, Culture, Education and Youth Mariya Gabriel, who will give the opening speech.

Following her speech, there will be a conference on the future of virtual reality offered by Zoan, a virtual reality studio with headquarters in Helsinki, Finland, which will end with a demonstration for attendants by Professor Henri Prikkalainen from Tampere University.

The ECIU XR Campus is an area that can be accessed from anywhere and at any time, and has been designed to aid students submerge into inteactions and co-creations. It offers instantaneous opportunities for collaboration among the entire ECIU university community throughout Europe, and proposes challenges that can be solved in groups, as well as individual, agile and flexible opportunities to develop abilities and skills. Participants will feel psychologically immersed in the experience as if they were physically present in the same space.

In this first stage, the ECIU XR Campus will be accessible through VR headphones and PCs. In the future, participants will also be able to use mobile devices by incorporating the aspect of augmented reality.
