Debate League to be held once again at the UAB

In February, the UAB will be hosting the local phases of the High School and University Debate Leagues. The first one will take place from 13 to 17 February and will focus on the question "Should social networks be regulated to fight against disinformation?" The second league will be held from 20 to 23 February, and the theme will be "Is tourism sustainable?"

The University Debate League, to be held from 20 to 23 February, will focus on whether or not tourism is sustainable.

 

The Debate League returns once again to the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona after it played host last year to the final phases of the High School and University Debate Leagues. The local phases of both leagues will take place in February, in which the teams representing the UAB will be chosen to go on to the Xarxa Vives debate league championships.

The "Suma’t al Debat de la UAB" project, organiser of the UAB debate leagues, aims to promote the values of a critical society through the use of dialectics, particularly among young students. That is why each year it organises the local phases of the High School and University Debate Leagues, with the objective of fostering cross-curricular skills through the use of words among students.

The High School Debate League will take place from 13 to 17 February at the UAB Theatre Hall, in which different teams will be debating the following question: Should social networks be regulated to fight against disinformation?

In this year's edition, the UAB will be welcoming the following centres:

The University debate League will be held shortly after the High School Debates, from 20 to 23 February. In this case, the subject will be: Is tourism sustainable?

The debate sessions will last from 8:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the UAB Theatre Hall, and will be open to the public in general.
