Databases about conflicts and peace

The UAB Escola de Cultura de Pau has prepared the Base de datos de conflictos y construcción de paz. It contains information about active armed conflicts all over the world, including data about their origins, causes, evolution, current situation and intensity of the conflicts. It is free and online, and it is presented in two languages: Spanish and English. You can find it at:

This publication is a good complement to Armed Conflict Database, which was subscribed by the UAB some years ago. Made by the International Institute for Strategic Studies, it covers terrorist, domestic and international armed conflicts from all over the world, and also their consequences: refugees, displaced people, economical costs and number of casualties, etc. You can consult it through the UAB Libraries catalogue.
More than 2,000 reports about this topic are added to the database every year, with information about:
- Political development: sumary of the main events of the year, international relations, type of conflict, parties, current situation, number of casualties, cost and used armaments.
- Militar and security development: militar balance between combatants, buying of weapons, soldiers, etc.
- Humanitarian development: economical and human cost of the conflict, both total and yearly number of casualties, refugees, displaced in a zone...
- Historical background of the conflict.
- Cronology and last events.
- Links to publications, official documents, related institutions, etc.
