The UAB Casa de Convalescencia (Carrer Sant Antoni Maria Claret 171, Barcelona) will host from 25 to 27 October a conference on defining the new ultra-right parties, entitled "Per definir la nova ultradreta internacional, 1985-2017, un exercici d'història actual", organised by the UAB's Research Group on Contemporary History (GReHA-CEDID).

The conference forms pat of the research and development project "Perfils de l'extrema dreta europea a la postguerra freda: tendències transideològiques i transversalitat de les bases socials", which studies the profiles of these political parties all over Europe. The lead researcher is Francisco Veiga, professor of the UAB Department of Modern and Contemporary History.

The three-day conference will serve to speak on the importance of social networks and their role in a rise in ultra-right movements across Europe, the situation of right-wing parties in different parts of the continent, the reminiscence of fascist models from the first half of the 20th century up to current times and the role of public people such as Steve Bannon and Marine Le Pen. All conferences will be given by experts from the UAB and other Europea universities.
