Citizen empowerment, core theme of the IGOP Summer School

28/06/2013
Entitled "Contexts, strategies and experiences of citizen empowerment", the second edition of the Summer School of the Institute of Government and Public Policy (IGOP) will take place from 1 to 5 July. The activities, all being held at the IGOP School's base in Barcelona, except for the closing session, are grouped around four areas for reflection:
- Processes of citizen empowerment, with a film cycle that includes titles like “La estrategia del caracol” and “La Toma”
- Methodologies for citizen empowerment, seeking answers to the question: What can we learn from social movements?
- Focus groups working on public policy, internet, self-management and social economy
- Plenaries dealing with protest movements like the 15M or the PAH
The official opening on July 1 and the closure on July 5 will be streamed live on the School's web page and will be widely covered on social networks (such as Twitter), allowing everyone to take part in the debates. The closing session, held on Friday 5 July at 6.30 pm in the Ateneu Popular 9 Barris, will be open to the public. It is organised by the IGOP, Ateneu Popular 9 Barris, and the CRIC (publishers of the magazine "Options").
